About the Performers

The Jambalaya Horns bring the heart and soul of New Orleans to life with their intoxicating blend of funk, soul, and traditional street beats. Formed in 2013 and fronted by Carlos Menezes Jr., the ensemble features some of the North Shore's finest musicians—including Salem Jazz and Soul Festival co-founder Henley Douglas Jr. on saxophone.

New Orleans-flavored Funk, Soul, and Brassy 2nd-Lines by the Jambalaya Horns will have you feeling like you’re in New Orleans this Mardi Gras season! Formed in 2013 and fronted by Carlos Menezes Jr. on lead vocals and horns, the group strives to capture the essence and soul of the diverse musical culture of the Crescent City. The core group features Matt Jenson and Martina Gallo (keys), Rick Geraghty (drums), Gary Wolsieffer (bass/tuba) Henley Douglas Jr. (saxes), Anthony Prestigiovanni (trumpet), Ben Tuck (trombone), and Christian Towler (guitar). This show will also feature an expanded horn section and surprise guest vocalists! You’ll feel like you’re in New Orleans this Mardi Gras Season!


Carlos Menezes Jr’s BrassFed Nation is a horn-driven groove machine with a unique sound incorporating the styles and traditions of early Jazz, New Orleans Funk & Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Calypso, and Jamaican Ska! Founded in 2013, The BrassFed Nation is dedicated to the advancement of horn-driven music through exposure and outreach in both education and local musical culture! The collective features 3 unique ensembles; Cape Ann Big Band, The Jambalaya Horns, and The 15-Piece DubTone Orchestra - all striving to inspire and connect musicians of all ages through performances, private studio lessons, workshops, and interactive clinics.

ABOUT JACYN TREMBLAY: Jacyn Tremblay is a versatile singer, songwriter, and recording artist with over 2 decades of professional experience! She currently performs throughout New England with the 9-piece band, Beantown. Other musical credits include single releases on Universal/Motown Records in the pop/r&b vocal group Jada, pop/rock singles in the duo Venus Mars Project, performing as a regularly featured soloist with the Hillyer Festival Orchestra, Jay Daly’s BBQ Brass, The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and most recently The Merrimack Philharmonic. Her original pop trio Three Second Chances released their EP on November 2nd 2023 to all digital and streaming platforms and their Christmas song “When The Tree Goes Up” is featured in the Hallmark Channel movie “Letters to Santa” this season! The group also just performed live in NBC Boston’s The Hub. Jacyn is also the co-producer of MUSE: A Salute to Divas Showcase-a concert experience featuring regional female talent-aiming to empower and inspire female musicians everywhere!

Join us for a delicious dinner with purpose at Dire Wolf Tavern on Tuesday, June 10th from 4:00-9:00 PM! A percentage of every dinner bill will be donated directly to the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival to support music education initiatives across the North Shore.

Part of the mission of the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival is to raise money to support music education initiatives. Studies show that children who play a musical instrument are more likely to excel in school and pursue a college education. Music education programs help children attain critical life skills like discipline, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and leadership.

Since inception, the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival has distributed almost $70,000 to music education initiatives throughout the North Shore.

Come hungry, leave happy knowing your evening out is making a direct impact on young musicians in our community!
