This amazing celebration of music and community is back on August 19th, 2023, at the picturesque Salem Willows. As always, our festival aims to unite us through the power of music, bringing joy and harmony to our vibrant community.

This year, we’re back with a bang, promising a day filled with spectacular live musical performances, enlightening educational workshops, an array of vendors, a beer tent for those adults looking to relax, and so much more. No matter your age or musical preference, this event has something for everyone!

The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a passionate commitment to offering music and music education opportunities to our North Shore community. We embrace all, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, orientation, or gender expression, to join us in this grand celebration of life and music.

Salem Jazz and Soul Festival 2023: A Celebration of Music and Community

We’re thrilled to announce the triumphant return of the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival to the picturesque Salem Willows on August 19th, 2023, from 11 AM to 7 PM!

After a few years of uncertainty due to the global pandemic, we’re ready to bring back the rhythm to the Salem Willows, and invite you to celebrate the enduring spirit of our community, the rich history of jazz, soul, and the love for live music.

An Unforgettable Day of Music

This year’s festival promises to be an extravaganza of live music and much more! You can look forward to thrilling performances from bands like Krewe de Skunk, TapRoots, Diane Blue All Stars, BT/ALC Big Band, and Salem High School Jazz Band.

Adding to the excitement, we’re delighted to announce that DJ SKOTVOID will be returning to spin some tunes between sets, keeping the atmosphere vibrant and energetic all day long!

A Festival for All

Beyond the music, the festival also features educational workshops for budding musicians and enthusiasts, a wide variety of vendors for your shopping delight, and a beer tent for those looking to savor some craft brews. This community event promises a good time for all, irrespective of age or background.

A Mission of Music Education

The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival is more than just a music event. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we provide live music and music education opportunities for the North Shore community, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, orientation, or gender expression. This festival is our love letter to music and the community supporting it.

Eighth-annual Salem Jazz and Soul Festival set for weekend of Aug.16-17

The 2014 Salem Jazz and Soul Festival will take place the weekend of Aug. 16-17 at the Salem Willows. The two day concert will feature performances by 10 bands from around New England and New York.

The free festival will also include a music-education tent, a family tent, a 21-plus beer pavilion and more than 30 local artisans selling hand-crafted goods. It will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.

The Salem High School Jazz band will open Saturday’s concert, followed by Pocket Money Orchestra, Amadee Castenell, and Moon Hooch. Delta Generators will headline Saturday.

Sunday will open with the North Shore Jazz Project All-Stars, followed by Cape Ann Big Band, Liquid Revolution, and the Frotations. Alissia Benveniste and the Funketeers, a 15-person funk band made up of Berklee College of Music students, will headline Sunday.

DJ Radio Scotvoid will spin between sets and Aurelia Nelson of North Shore 104.9 will emcee along with festival co-founder, Henley Douglas Jr.

Salem Trolley will offer an inexpensive shuttle to the festival, which will stop regularly at the National Parks Service Visitors Center on Essex Street, the Salem Ferry Landing on Blaney Street and the Bentley School, 25 Memorial Drive, where there will be additional parking.

Also, Mahi Mahi Cruises and Charters will ferry audience members from Pickering Wharf to the Willows all day, for a reasonable fee.

The festival encourages audience members to walk, ride bicycles or take the trolley to the Salem Willows, as parking will be limited.

The festival is a a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to producing free concerts and supporting music-education causes on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
